Using dates for decision diamonds?

Hi there,

I’d love to build a campaign so that when someone receives a tag, they go into one sequence or the other depending which month of the year it is. (We hold conferences every fall, so during the summer and fall those newly tagged would get follow-up emails that promote the conferences, but the rest of the year the CTA would be different).

Right now, it looks like decision diamonds are limited to being composed of a contact’s information, not things like dates. Any suggested workarounds?

Thanks,
Rae

Rae:

Set up the campaign so that they flow into multiple sequences.

Then set up a Delay timer at the start of the sequence to let people flow based on when you want them to go through.

So, for example, if you want people to get verbiage A in Jan-Aug, but get verbiage B in Sept-Dec, then set up a Delay timer in the top sequence that says ‘wait 1 minute on any day in Jan, Feb…Aug’ at any time and trigger the Top Tag for ‘send emails’ and then set up your email in the following sequence.
In the bottom sequence, say ‘wait 1 minute on any day in Sept, Oct, …Dec at any time’ and then apply the bottom ‘send emails’ tag and set up the emails for those in the next sequence.

That way, if people enter in March, they will flow through the top, but will be stopped at the bottom. When you apply the ‘send emails’ tag, they will get pulled out of both sequences and flow through the top set of emails.

If people enter in Nov, they will flow through the bottom, but will be stopped at the top. When you apply the ‘send emails’ tag, they will get pulled out of both sequences and flow through the bottom set of emails.

Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks,
Jeff
