How to Split existing and new contacts in automation

Hey Guys,

We have just moved from Active Campaign and on the PRO package, we want to set up a welcome sequence where new contacts will go one route and existing contact down another.

I cant seem to find how to do this, here is our plan

    • Tag gets added (any contact)
    • Safe sender email to NEW CONTACTS ONLY
    • Event Email to ALL
    • End Automation to EXISTING
    • Enter Welcome Sequence to NEW ONLY

Any help would be great, thanks!

When you do the safe sender email you could add a tag at that point. Then use that tag to separate in a decision diamond.
As part of the Welcome sequence then remove that tag.

An alternative would be to tag all existing contacts now with say “Welcome Sequence complete”. Then use that as the trigger in the diamond. (ie if they don’t have that tag then follow Welcome sequence. The you would add that tag during their welcome sequence.
